History of Business

dick.jpgDiamond Cards is located in Quincy, a beautiful river town on the bluffs of the Mississippi River in Western Illinois. Diamond Cards was founded in 1988 by Richard (Dick) Chapin and his wife, Barb. Dick was, for many years, a Senior Program Director for the Kankakee YMCA and the Quincy YMCA. He retired in 1990 from YMCA work.

Dick loved kids . . . sports . . . and people. He was far too energetic and active to spend his retirement doing nothing. So . . . before retiring, he decided to open a retail store specializing in sports cards and memorabilia, and the supplies sports collectors need.

Dick and Barb were "Mr. and Mrs. Diamond" - partners in the operation of Diamond Cards for 20 years. Today, Diamond Cards is the oldest sports card and memorabilia business in the tri-state area of Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri. Sadly, Dick passed away in January of 2008. Barb continues to own Diamond Cards and is very active in the business. Shawn Hasting joined the business in March, 2008 and is the Store Manager.

Today, Diamond Cards is the oldest sports card and memorabilia business in the tri-state area of Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri.
